§ 21-164. Meter testing.

  • If any consumer of water doubts the correctness of the water meter measuring his service, he may have the meter tested upon making application to the superintendent of public works and making a deposit as set out below to defray the cost thereof. If the test shows the meter in question to be correct within five per cent, he shall bear the entire cost of the test, but if the test shows the meter registering incorrectly beyond five per cent of the correct amount, the deposit shall be refunded and the entire cost of the test shall be borne by the board of public works. The method of testing such meters shall conform to the rules and methods from time to time prescribed or approved by the state public service commission. The amount required as a deposit as a condition precedent to having a meter tested shall be as follows:
